US Court Orders FBI to Release President Tinubu’s Records

A US District Court in Washington, D.C., has directed the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to release records related to investigations into President Bola Tinubu's alleged links to a drug trafficking network.

The Court's Ruling

The court's decision, delivered on April 8, 2025, comes in response to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests submitted by Aaron Greenspan, founder of PlainSite, in 2022 and 2023. The court ordered the FBI and DEA to search for and process non-exempt records responsive to the FOIA requests.

Alleged Drug Trafficking Case

The records pertain to investigations into a heroin trafficking ring that operated in Chicago in the early 1990s, allegedly linked to President Tinubu and three other individuals.

What's Next?

The FBI and DEA are required to provide a joint status report on outstanding matters by May 2, 2025. This development may have implications for the public's understanding of President Tinubu's past and his administration's policies.
