Opposition Coalition Submits Application for Registration of ADA as Political Party
The National Opposition Coalition Group, led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has formally applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the registration of a new political party, the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).
The decision to form a new party follows extensive deliberations and internal discussions within the coalition about possibly joining existing political platforms. However, internal crises and litigations in those parties raised concerns, prompting the coalition to explore forming a new party.
The ADA's application includes its logo, manifesto, constitution, flag, and minutes of meetings, as required by Nigerian law. The party's slogan is "Justice for All," and its symbol features corn (maize), reflecting its grassroots identity and focus on national development.
The emergence of ADA is seen as a significant development in Nigeria's political landscape. If approved, the party could reshape the country's political dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The registration of ADA is currently under review by INEC, and the commission's response will determine the party's fate. The development has sparked interest and speculation about the potential impact on Nigeria's political scene.
