The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has strongly condemned the recent threat of military action issued by U.S. President Donald Trump against Nigeria, describing the statement as unprovoked and undiplomatic. Soludo argued that Africa has shown restraint and respect toward global issues, including America’s internal challenges.
In his reaction shared through his media team in Awka, Soludo stated that Africa never interfered nor threatened the United States during the #BlackLivesMatter movement, despite the global attention it attracted. He said such restraint should serve as a reminder that mutual respect is the foundation of international relations.
Governor Soludo emphasized that the dignity of African nations must be upheld at all times, and no country, regardless of its power, should attempt to undermine another’s sovereignty. He added that every independent nation deserves to be treated as an equal partner in the global community.
He further urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to respond diplomatically but firmly, ensuring that Nigeria’s sovereignty remains fully protected. According to him, no responsible government should overlook comments that threaten the peace and independence of its people.
The governor concluded by calling for peace, dialogue, and constructive engagement between the United States and African nations. He stated that cooperation, not confrontation, should define modern international relationships.
