Armed gunmen invaded Igbonla community in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State in the early hours of Tuesday, abducting several residents during a violent midnight raid.


According to eyewitnesses, the assailants stormed the area around 12:30 AM, shooting sporadically to instill fear among villagers before forcing their way into homes and kidnapping multiple victims. The exact number of abducted persons remains unclear as of the time of this report.


Residents described the incident as traumatic, saying that the community was thrown into panic as families fled into nearby bushes to seek safety. Several properties were reportedly damaged during the attack.


Security sources in the state confirmed that police operatives and local vigilante groups have launched a joint manhunt to track down the perpetrators and rescue the abducted victims.


Meanwhile, the Kwara State Police Command has assured residents of intensified patrols in Irepodun and neighboring communities to prevent further attacks, urging the public to remain calm and provide useful information to aid investigations.
