Nigerian comedian Mr Jollof has addressed the widely discussed mid-air confrontation with social critic VeryDarkMan (VDM), insisting that he is “not a violent person” and acted only to defend himself during the tense encounter.
In a new statement shared after the incident, Mr Jollof said the situation escalated unexpectedly, adding that he reacted in the heat of the moment when he felt physically provoked. He emphasized that confrontation is not part of his lifestyle and expressed regret that passengers on the flight had to experience the disruption.
The comedian also offered an apology to the airline crew, fellow passengers, and the aviation authorities, acknowledging that the incident caused stress and unnecessary delay for everyone involved.
Speaking emotionally about how the situation affected his family, Mr Jollof said his wife has shown him support despite the controversy, stating that “my lovely wife is proud of me, and I appreciate her strength at this time.” He further apologized to his children, promising that such scenes will not repeat.
He added that he remains committed to maintaining peace and professionalism in his public life, describing the confrontation as “unfortunate and not a representation of who I am.”
The incident, which happened during boarding procedures, has continued to spark debate across social platforms, with many Nigerians calling for calm and urging both men to resolve their differences privately.
