The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized an estimated ₦6.7 billion worth of tramadol and codeine during a sting operation carried out in Lagos State. The operation, executed after detailed intelligence gathering, targeted a concealed warehouse believed to be used for storing large quantities of restricted pharmaceutical substances.
According to NDLEA officials, the warehouse—located within the Ikeja industrial axis—contained thousands of cartons of tramadol and codeine prepared for distribution across multiple regions. Officers successfully intercepted the consignment and secured the location without confrontation.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the stockpile may be linked to a major drug distribution network operating within and beyond Lagos. Several individuals suspected to be connected to the operation are currently being profiled and interrogated.
The agency described the seizure as a major breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and reduce the circulation of controlled substances nationwide. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
