17 MILLION NIGERIANS TRAVEL ABROAD IN ONE YEAR

NANTA Reveals Surge in Outbound Travel

Over 17 million Nigerians travelled out of Nigeria between 2023 and 2024, according to a recent revelation by the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA). This significant surge in outbound travel has been attributed to various purposes, including health, education, and visitation.

The association's report highlights the growing trend of Nigerians seeking opportunities and services abroad. With this number, Nigeria has become one of the top countries with high outbound travel rates.

NANTA's Vice Chairman, Eastern Zone, Hope Ehiogie, has projected that the tourism and travel industry could generate over $12 million for the nation's economy by 2026. The association is working to boost the industry through events like the Eastern Travel Market 2025.

The event, scheduled for August 27 to 30 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, aims to bring together travel professionals to discuss industry growth and explore opportunities.
