OLYMPIAN FLUTTER: Siasia Slams Mikel Over Flight Claims

Former Coach Sets the Record Straight on Olympic Eagles' Expenses

Abuja, Nigeria - In a dramatic turn of events, former Nigeria U-23 coach Samson Siasia has rubbished claims by John Obi Mikel that he paid for the team's flight to the 2016 Rio Olympics. According to Siasia, Mikel did not cover any flight costs for the Olympic Eagles from the United States to Brazil.

Siasia revealed that arrangements were made with Delta Airlines after concerned Nigerians in the US intervened and resolved the flight challenges. "Mikel Obi did not pay any flight money for the Olympic Eagles from the United States to Brazil," Siasia said in a statement. "The only issue was with hotel bills, and he helped cover some of that. For the flight to Brazil, he did not pay a dime."

The former coach has challenged Mikel to provide receipts as proof of payment, suggesting that Mikel might be trying to gain undeserved credit. "If Mikel has receipts, he should show them," Siasia added. "As head coach, I can confirm he didn’t cover those flight costs."

The dispute has sparked a heated debate in the sports community, with many calling for clarity on the matter. Siasia's comments have put Mikel on the spot, and it remains to be seen how the midfielder will respond to the allegations.

As the controversy continues to unfold, one thing is certain: the truth behind the Olympic Eagles' expenses will eventually come to light.
