FOUR KILLED, 3,000 DISPLACED IN RENEWED NASARAWA HERDER ATTACKS

Renewed Violence Sparks Humanitarian Crisis in Nasarawa Communities

Renewed attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Nasarawa State have claimed the lives of four Tiv farmers, with over 3,000 people displaced from their communities. The attacks, which occurred in multiple locations, have left many more injured and seeking medical attention.

The victims of the attacks have been identified as Terra Twanbee, Sham Kyodo, Zaki Kwaghtager Ordu, and Isaiah Audu, the President of the Tiv Youth Organisation. The displaced persons are currently taking refuge in various camps, with many more expected to join them.

The attacks have also resulted in significant destruction of property, including farmlands and crops worth millions of naira. Rice, cassava, watermelon, and groundnuts were among the crops destroyed. The economic impact of the attacks is expected to be severe, with many families struggling to recover.

The Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency (NASEMA) has confirmed the influx of internally displaced persons (IDPs) into the state and has established additional camps to accommodate them. The agency has distributed relief materials and is working to provide further assistance to those affected.
